Oklahoma City, OK - United Way of Central Oklahoma's (UWCO) six-month Community Investment process wrapped up with an increase in funding for 137 programs at 68 Partner Agencies across central Oklahoma, including Canadian and Logan Counties.

The 2024 allocation for UWCO's current nonprofit Partner Agency programming is $10,533,065 — $500,000 more than the previous fundraising campaign. The allocation for United Way of Canadian County's 2024 Partner Agency programming is $277,183 and United Way of Logan County's agencies received $240,622.

Funds raised from last year’s campaign will be used throughout 2024 at the organization’s vetted Partner Agencies. Two new nonprofit agencies have joined the list of Partner Agencies: Wings, an agency that enhances the lives of adults with developmental disabilities through social, vocational and residential programs in central Oklahoma; and Hope House Guthrie that provides food and shelter to the unhoused and hungry in Logan County.

This year, the Community Investment process included 274 volunteers, who are United Way donors that make funding recommendations. These volunteers carefully assess program proposals and outcome measurement data, meet with agency directors and visit agency facilities to get a firsthand look at the programs, the staff and the people they serve. Partner Agencies’ financial documentation is also reviewed by volunteers, who are state licensed Certified Public Accountants or other financial professionals.

“We thank all the United Way donors and volunteers who support the community investment process each year. Their engagement is vital to the United Way process of vetting programs and supporting the nonprofit Partner Agencies.” said Mark Lisle, Executive Vice President at BancFirst Edmond and United Way’s Community Investment Chair.

The volunteer funding recommendations are reviewed by the United Way Community Investment Committee that submits a final funding proposal to UWCO’s Board of Directors, who are also donor volunteers. The Board approves the proposal and distribution of funds for Partner Agencies’ specific programs for central Oklahoma, Canadian and Logan Counties. Approximately 5,500 total volunteer hours were contributed to the Community Investment process this year. UWCO appreciates all those who participated in helping the nonprofit complete this integral process that supports citizens across central Oklahoma communities.
